Problem
Utility Line Services, Inc., a Maryland company, was running their business on a cadre of Excel spreadsheets. The spreadsheets tracked work requests for installation of underground utilities. It was time consuming to maintain and share the data in multiple Excel files. It became more difficult with staff working outside of the office.

Solution
The client wanted a small, but effective, custom software application to be built quickly. This custom software application needed to allow multiple users to access and maintain data remotely. Ectobox took the time to sit down with Utility Line Services and determine what custom features were needed. In a short time, Ectobox’s talented team of developers built a custom Microsoft Access database application to fit the client’s unique needs.

Result
The users can now access their work requests data in the custom Access application from anywhere in the world. This has proven to be much more beneficial to the company than the previous remote-access solution. This new solution prevents the users from using duplicate or out-of-date data, and makes finding and maintaining the data much easier and quicker with features not available in Excel.
